We have developed some simple ideas for parents to keep their children active at home.
Parents:
Here are some ‘Active Ideas’ for home:
- Go for pre- or post-dinner walks/adventure walks. Play small games on the walks, this can act as a good distraction!:)
- Turn up the music and boogie down! 1D or Taylor Swift will get the hearts pumping!
- Sneak workouts into other activities i.e. taking the stairs instead of the escalator, see who can clean up the quickest.
- Make a game out of household chores.
- Turn TV ad breaks into fitness breaks. How many jumping jacks can you do? Can you fit in 20 high knees?:)
- Let the kids help with work in the yard and with gardening – catch leaves, raking, sorting, digging, planting, etc.
- Have a weekly sports night, where everyone in the family gets involved.
- Walk the dog.
- Use our local facilities- We have an amazing play park in Clones and also the Peacelink have a great running track.
- Get on your bike!
- Join Local classes-Fun Clubs/Irish dancing/ Athletics/Cycling club-Which all take part in Clones.
