Actives Week has arrived!
The children have already participated in different activities this week including GAA, Yoga, Wake up Shake Up ,cycle to school, cycling obstacle courses and the senior classes completing a duathlon at the Peacelink and....its only Tuesday!

More activities are to come including Sessions at the Peacelink, a Junior Hell and Back and much more!

Ms.Short and the Committee would like to thank all of the parents that attended our 'Run A Mile With A Smile'. It was great that ye braved all the weather conditions. We were also delighted with the amount of parents that attended our 'Active Schools' Information and games day. The children worked hard developing their 'Active' Raps and on preparation for the games. As always we couldn't do it all without your support.:)

Active Schools Assembly!

Today's Active Schools assembly was a great success. All the classes got to display their class raps and informed the parents of all of the sports going on through out the School. 3rd class then got to showcase some easy games that parents could play at home with their children. Well Done to everyone that took part, and a big thank you to the parents who came to support us!:)

Mini Lunch Time League Finals
Today we had the finals of the mini leagues and in the shield final
Kildare were playing Monaghan. Good football game
but monaghan ended up winning 8-6. A good game of football....
We had one more final and Cork and Derry. A tough game it ended by Cork winning
11-9. What a game we had. A player from Monaghan

Mini Lunch  Time League Tuesday 

We had more football today at lunch time. The frist game was Armagh v Down a good game 

but a low scoring game and it ended up 3/2 Armagh winning by one point.There was one more game

and Cork and Derry were playing. A tense game but Cork ended up  winning by two points 4/2 ...we will have more football  tomorrow at lunch time 

Mini Lunch Time League Wednesday

Yesterday 5th and 6th class started playing a mini lunch time league.The teams are
Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Kerry, Derry, Down and Cork. The frist game was Monaghan v Dublin it was a hard game but Monaghan took the lead by winning by one point.The final score was 7-6.
The next game was Kildare v Kerry. It was a tight game and ended with 5 points a piece.
We had one more game Derry v down battling away but Derry got the last score it ended up 5-4 to Derry.We will have more football games  tomorrow at lunch time.

As part of our Active Schools Children will be given some 'active' homework every evening. This week, children were completing as many jumping jacks as they could in 1 minute. By Thursday, they are going to be trying to beat their own record.:) Next weeks exercise will be high knees in 1 minute..Lets see who can get the most!

Our Active Schools board is back in action for all of our athletes this year!

Active Schools is well under way again this year, with our new active committee working hard to create new ideas for our School to get 'active'. We will be starting with our goal of being able to 'run a mile with a smile' Classes will be preparing for this with their teachers, getting a little bit of training in over the next few weeks! Get your runners ready!:) Watch this space.....
